History

Over 60 farming families have joined forces in the Einsiedeln milk factory to process mountain milk locally again. The result is a show dairy with a restaurant and regional store. Committed to tradition: For centuries, cows have been tended and cared for, meadows and pastures cultivated in the high valley of the Sihl. The first reports of the production of milk and cheese products from the monastery village date back to this era. In spring 2012, 60 farming families joined forces in the milk factory to be able to process Einsiedeln milk locally again in future. The result is a show dairy with a restaurant and regional store. The milk from around 7 farms in the Einsiedeln region is now processed in the milk factory.

What makes the cheese from Milchmanufaktur Einsiedeln so special?

Einsiedler Bergmilch stands for healthy, tasty food from a natural landscape. The Einsiedler farmers aim to meet the high standards of animal welfare, species-appropriate and GMO-free feeding. Master cheesemaker Dominik Schmidt and his team produce raw milk cheese, soft cheese, mozzarella and yoghurt from Einsiedler Bergmilch, which is produced close to nature. The passionate master cheesemakers give the products their individual character through small processing quantities and exquisite flavors. In addition, no artificial preservatives are used at all.
