History

The Stofel cheese dairy was founded in 1922 by the Bosshard family. Since 1983, the Stadelmann's in Unterwasser have been producing the finest quality products from the best cow's, sheep's and goat's milk from around fifteen selected Obertoggenburg mountain farmers. Today, Thomas Stadelmann and his team are the second generation to produce the many specialties.

What makes Stofel cheese so special?

Their products are made according to traditional recipes and refined with a great deal of expertise and flair. The milk comes from cows that eat only the finest mountain and alpine herbs that grow between 900m and 2000m above sea level. New creations are constantly being made, for example with white or blue mold cultures, spicy wood shavings or fragrant hay flowers.
